Optimism among Swiss financial analysts deteriorated notably in September, survey data from the investment bank Credit Suisse and the CFA Society Switzerland showed Wednesday.
The investor confidence index fell to -30.8 in September from -14.3 in August. This was the most negative assessment since the abandonment of the EUR/CHF minimum exchange rate by the Swiss National Bank.
Following the prospective boom year 2018, the majority of analysts are expecting a slowdown of the economy in 2019. Around a third of survey participants expect the economy to slow down and only 4 percent anticipate growth acceleration.
On exchange rate, about 42 percent expect the franc to depreciate against the euro and only 31 percent see an appreciation.
Once again, only 12 percent each anticipated a rise in short-term interest rates in the Eurozone and Switzerland.
