South Africa Producer Price Inflation Eases In September

South Africa's producer price inflation slowed slightly in September, after accelerating in the previous five months, figures from Statistics South Africa showed on Thursday.

The producer price index for manufactured goods rose 6.2 percent year-on-year after a 6.3 percent increase in August. The inflation figure was steadily rising since April.

The main contributors to the annual inflation were coke, petroleum, chemical, rubber and plastic products, and transport equipment, the agency said.

On a month-on-month basis, the producer price index climbed 0.5 percent in September.
