Romania Inflation Stable In January

Romania's consumer price inflation remained steady in January, after easing in the previous four months, figures from the National Institute of Statistics showed on Wednesday.

The consumer price index rose 3.3 percent year-on-year in January, the same pace as in December. In November, inflation was 3.4 percent. Economists had expected a 3.3 percent rise in inflation.

Prices of food products grew by 3.77 percent annually in January and those of non-food products rose by 3.29 percent. Services costs increased 2.71 percent.

On a month-on-month basis, the consumer prices rose 0.8 percent in January after a 0.2 percent increase in the previous month. Prices rose for a second straight month.
