The unemployment rate for the OECD countries remained unchanged for a second straight month in August, figures from the Paris-based Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development showed on Tuesday.
The jobless rate was 5.3 percent in August, same as in June and July. The rate was 5.2 percent in May.
The youth unemployment rate, which applies to the 15-24 age group, was 11 percent.
The number of unemployed was 33.5 million, which was around one million more than in April 2008, ahead of the global financial crisis. The number of young unemployed were 7.9 million.
