Italy July Current Account Surplus Rises

Italy's current account surplus for July grew from the same period last year, largely due to an improvement in the services surplus, figures from the Bank of Italy showed Wednesday.

The current account surplus increased to EUR 8.607 billion from EUR 7.864 billion a year ago. Surplus in the services trade rose to EUR 1.116 billion from EUR 773 million in the same month last year. The visible trade surplus grew to EUR 7.554 billion from EUR 7.132 billion.

Primary income decreased to EUR 990 million from EUR 1.261 billion and the deficit in the secondary income account shrunk to EUR 1.052 billion from EUR 1.302 billion.

The deficit in the capital account widened to EUR 110 million from EUR 81 million.

The financial account surplus grew to EUR 10.498 billion from EUR 10.339 billion.
