At 8:30 am ET Monday, the Commerce Department will release U.S. retail sales for September. The consensus is for growth of 0.6 percent, up from 0.1 percent in the prior month.
Ahead of the data, the greenback held steady against its major rivals.
The greenback was worth 111.89 against the yen, 0.9867 against the franc, 1.1583 against the euro and 1.3155 against the pound as of 8:25 am ET.
