At 8:30 am ET Tuesday, the U.S. housing starts data for October will be issued. The consensus is for 1.240 million, up from 1.201 million in the prior month.
Ahead of the data, the greenback traded mixed against its major counterparts. While the greenback fell against the franc and the yen, it rose against the euro. Against the pound, it held steady.
The greenback was worth 1.1420 against the euro, 112.35 against the yen, 1.2837 against the pound and 0.9918 against the franc as of 8:25 am ET.
