Denmark Consumer Confidence Lowest Since Early 2017

Denmark's consumer confidence weakened for a fourth straight month in October to its lowest level since early 2017, preliminary data from Statistics Denmark showed on Tuesday.

The consumer confidence index climbed to 5.1 from 6.9 in September. The score was the lowest since February 2017, when it was 4.8.

The reading was below the index's six-month average of 8.2. All sub-index readings were also below their six-month average. Consumers continued to rate the present economic situation as better than a year ago, but they had an opposite take on their personal financial situation. Households' expectations regarding their personal financial situation as well as their view on the national economy in a year's time weakened. Consumers were also significantly disinclined to make big purchases such as television and washing machine now.
