Bulgaria's retail sales growth gained momentum in August, preliminary data from the National Statistical Institute showed on Tuesday.
Retail sales, excluding automobile trade, grew 0.5 percent from July, when they rose 0.2 percent. In June, sales edged up 0.1 percent.
Sales of food, beverages and tobacco rose 0.4 percent and sales of non-food products except fuel grew 0.5 percent, within which sales of computers and parts and communication equipment registered a 2.4 percent jump.
Automotive fuel sales increased 0.8 percent.
On a year-on-year basis, retail sales rose 5.1 percent in August after a 4.9 percent increase in July.
